Checked coolant resevoir and it was full, however the radiator took quite a bit of water. Rode for a little longer next time, and light comes on ...

Disconnect your battery, unplug the reg/rect. and connect your meter (set to ohms) red lead to any of the three wires that go to the stator, black lead to frame ground.
