Basically, Kineticist has a lot of good 2A abilities that don't use the attack trait. You want to pair that with a class that has a lot of action freedom. Monk is really good at that because being able to Flurry -> Impulse is very handy. You won't be doing Elemental Blast much, but you'll want to leverage a lot of the 2A impulses.

The only ones that qualify, in my opinion, are water, earth, and aether. Put two points into Aether, and the rest into Earth which will give you a solid amount of regenerating hp, and DR on top of that.There are two basic ways to play the kineticist, plus a generally weaker third option. The first is a "build-and-spend" style. The easiest difference is that druids care about nature by definition, even if only as a tool to use. Kineticists obtain their power from the elements but don't need to care about them at all.
